Like his parents , he recognized the power of the priests at Thebes . When he rule Egypt , He changed the state cult of Amon-Re to that of Aten - the Unique God - and moved the capital of his kingdom from Thebes to his own Akhetaten in the Middle Egypt , ( Tell El-Amarna ) .
